Summary: mouseup sometimes ignored in horizontal scroll bar
           Product: WebKit
           Version: 528+ (Nightly build)
          Platform: Macintosh Intel
               URL: feed://news.com.com/2547-1_3-0-5.xml
        OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.5
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: New Bugs
        AssignedTo: webkit-unassigned at lists.webkit.org
        ReportedBy: kee at kagi.com

I'm using Safari and when I have a browser window open and am reading the
contents, I will click in the white space in the scroll bar, below the position
button, and the screen will shift downward by one viewable increment (page
down). Sometimes when I click (mousedown mouseup) to page down and have
immediately released the mouse (the mouseup), Safari will behave as if I still
have the mouse down and it will rapidly scroll the pages down to the bottom of
the viewable window. It is as though the mouse is still pressed down. The page
will scroll down until the position button is underneath the mouse pointer (if
the mouse pointer is still on the scroll bar).

I don't think this bug is related specifically to the above URL, it just
happened a bunch today with that specific URL.

I am running the stock updated Safari Version 4.0.3 (5531.9) for Mac OS X
10.5.8 on Intel (not the 528+ (Nightly build) specified in Version above).

To quote someone else way more knowledgeable than me concerning this behavior:
"That sounds like a bug. The most helpful thing you can do if you’d like to see
it fixed is to write a bug report. For bugs that might be in WebKit, here are
the instructions about how to do it:
<http://webkit.org/quality/reporting.html>. Making a guess from your
description, the most likely area for the bug is lower level software, perhaps
the mouse driver or even the window server. So this will probably need to go to
<http://bugreport.apple.com>."

I don't recall this ever happening in any software other than Safari.
