I wholeheartedly agree.  Eventually the scripts need to support all our
supported SCM systems.  I also think it would be OK to land git-specific
scripts for the time being.  In this case though we can't land these anyway due
to GPL usage. :(  At least that's my understanding of our license restrictions.
