Can you check which cookies you have for .apple.com?  You can view them in
Safari's Security preference pane.  If it looks like you have any large cookies
then I would suggest:
1) Quit Safari.
2) Move ~/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist to your desktop.
3) Re-launch Safari.
4) Try visiting the URL again.

If the web page then loads successfully it would confirm my hunch that this is
caused by an overly large cookie.
