This change (http://trac.webkit.org/changeset/41209) breaks sites using Gears. 
Such sites have a snippet of javascript that loads gears by appending an object
tag into the page, with display set to "none".  Now that that behavior has
changed, object tags with "display=none" don't load the corresponding NPAPI
plugins, and Gears no longer works.

It would be nice to have a workaround for Gears until sites have time to
change.
