I do get this behaviour with a "fresh" account. As far as I know, my
Webkit/Safari installation is rather close to a stock one - nothing other that
regular plugins (going into /Library/Internet Plugins) is installed. I will try
to pinpoint if the problem is caused by a particular plugin or memory resident
software.
