Summary: Suggestion for handling new tab creation vs window
from a link
Product: WebKit
Version: 528+ (Nightly build)
Platform: Macintosh Intel
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.5
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: Enhancement
Priority: P3
Component: New Bugs
AssignedTo: webkit-unassigned at lists.webkit.org
ReportedBy: bobby.crotty at gmail.com
The ability to better control when links spawn new windows vs new tabs would
greatly enhance Safari/Webkit's usability. More than simply rerouting
everything to a new tab, there needs to be a way to differentiate what get's
opened as a tab, and what opens as a window.
Where I would specifically use this change is in Gmail. I would like the top
links (e.g. Calendar, Documents) to open as tabs, but when I press the pop out
button while composing a new email or chatting, it should open a new window.
Thanks,
Bobby
