have now been able to repeat the problem five times within the past hour.

problem occurs even if facebook is the only window

seems to be more likely to occur if cookies were cleared prior to attempting
login.

cookie preferences "only from sites I visit" during this testing. 

in my normal use, I alternate between "only from sites I visit" and "never",
frequently deleting all cookies. 

this is on powerpc G4, fwiw, btw
