Unfortunately, I can confirm that this issue remains in 10.5.5.  Even more
unfortunate is that the issue is exhibited on one of our internal sites, but
not in the test provided in comment #38 above.  In other words, the test
provided works fine, but I'm still having this issue.  I'm going to try and do
some more testing in the next few days to see if I can nail it down anymore.
