There appears to be a few issues,
 * The animation appears to be incorrectly centered.  A brief look at the code
and the animation behaviour actually makes me think we're getting the mask
position wrong.
 * There are some fairly severe repaint issues in the center of the image.
 * Style/fill information isn't updating properly.  Not sure if the is a
painting, invalidation or updating issue.
 * Performance is just generically poor.
