I take back my comment about globalStorage being Firefox's proprietary thing -
it appears they did indeed implement it as part of one of the VERY easy web
apps 1.0 drafts, which later become html5.  My apologies for being confused.

Yup, this problem sucks.  They'll have it, the standards won't.

IE8's globalStorage has only been in a beta for roughly 4 months at this point.
 Making assumptions that they'll still have it in their final release seems to
be jumping the gun a little.

Since FFX is moving forward to add LocalStorage, and since most seem to agree
it is the better spec, it's unclear to me whether it is worth adding the
non-standard globalStorage...
