It appears this is related to Google's partners web code. The www.gmail.com
with regular GMail login works fine. The gmail.gallaudet.edu will  be
redirected to gmail and the shift key pressing in body message compositing will
cause focus to go to subject box. Very strange problem.

This still exists in released Safari 3.1 too.
