Summary: FireFox 3 redraws less than Safari 3 when scrolling
subframes
Product: WebKit
Version: 525+ (Nightly build)
Platform: Macintosh
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.5
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P2
Component: New Bugs
AssignedTo: webkit-unassigned at lists.webkit.org
ReportedBy: eric at webkit.org
FireFox 3 redraws less than Safari 3 when scrolling subframes
Try the attached test case with Quartz Debug enabled.
FireFox 2 has our same behavior (of always redrawing the entire scroll area).
This study was prompted by a colleague of mine mentioning that one of the
Google Web Apps had to switch away from using <div> with overflow: auto due to
performance issues, and use iframes instead. It seems it must not have been FF
or Safari motivating that switch however. Regardless, we could improve our
scrolling behavior here.
