Such cases are far from obvious - IE is "only" a browser used by most people,
so compatibility with it is very important. Also, there are several real life
compatibility issues caused by this, as cited above.

I'm leaning towards counting this a bug that needs to be fixed, but ultimately,
I think we need one of the project leaders to make the call here.
