per a brief conversation on irc, this issue appears to be related to the hack
used to launch WebKit.app. If i launch Safari with this command:

DYLD_FRAMEWORK_PATH=/path/to/WebKit.app/Contents/Frameworks/10.5
/Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari

and then set Safari to be the default browser and try to reproduce the problem
it is gone. Safari launches the URL from Flash just fine.
