Summary: Page with a large amount of images (1000) takes a long
time to load
Product: WebKit
Version: 525+ (Nightly build)
Platform: Macintosh PowerPC
URL: https://eee.uci.edu/~rvadnais/icons/16x16/silk/index-
dev.php
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.5
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: Normal
Priority: P2
Component: Images
AssignedTo: webkit-unassigned at lists.webkit.org
ReportedBy: ray.vadnais at gmail.com
I have a page containing 1,002 (I think) images - about 1,000 16x16 icons, a
banner logo and a small tiled background image for headers. On WebKit (and the
currently shipping latest version of Safari 3), this page takes an incredibly
long time to load. It loads pretty fast in other browsers (I checked Firefox 2
and 3).
I popped open the Activity viewer, and it looks like WebKit knows that the page
has a lots and lots of images, but downloads them one at a time (and pretty
slowly at that).
I'm on a 100mb connection and the server I'm connecting to is .. downstairs, on
the same network, so I don't think its a bandwidth or speed issue.
