Not that my $0.02 really count for anything, but it doesn't really make sense
to me to have a CSS property that controls whether or not an element is spell
checked.

Spell checking is a behavior of the control, not a presentational aspect. If
there's a CSS property to control this, then why not add one for
contenteditable? I can't think of any CSS property that controls an actual
behavior of the element it is applied to.

A property that allows you to override the appearance of misspelled words
sounds fine, but as for actually controlling whether it spell checks or not
doesn't really make sense to me - again, just my two cents.
