A page where I frequently notice slow refreshes is at:

http://soccernet-akamai.espn.go.com/scoreboard?league=all&cc=5901

which refreshes itself every 45 seconds, so that scores are updated regularly. 
None of the subresources really need refreshing, but the page loads slowly, and
consumes a lot of CPU every time the page refreshes.  This is particularly
noticeable on a slow network.
