ap: you're right my patch has fixed this bug, but your test case does still
cause a crash

Am moving to p2 as i can't see a way to trigger the crash without having using
drt, although it does need to be fixed as we should allow an invalid range to
cause a crash (the NSTextInput API even states that we should assume we'll be
given bad ranges)
