I'm bumping this as I don't want it to get lost in the ether.

I really think perceived rendering speed is such an important factor for a
rendering engine. Solving this bug would greatly enhance the perceived
rendering speed of refreshes (not to mention smoothness etc). It'd be great if
this could be assigned.
