There is a lot of JS code executed in onclick. I have tried reducing the issue,
but the delay was becoming smaller and smaller, so there's likely no bottleneck
(as Eric points out, much of the time is spent in the garbage collector). Also,
Firefox isn't any faster on my machine, and even its Shark profile is similar.

Do we need to keep this bug open? It will always be possible to write slow JS
code.
