Summary: WebKit doesn't work
Product: WebKit
Version: 420+ (nightly)
Platform: Macintosh
URL: http://apple.com/ipodnano/red/
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.4
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: Critical
Priority: P1
Component: Text
AssignedTo: webkit-unassigned at opendarwin.org
ReportedBy: marylist at carolina.rr.com
Dear WebKit developers,
I downloaded WebKit today from webkit.org. I downloaded version
"420+", 21,939,240 bytes. It doesn't appear to be working correctly.
The text isn't readable; it's big enough to see, but is contained
within a framework that cuts the letters off. (I took a screenshot and could
send it to you, if you want to send me an email address, or call me at
704-596-6237.)
There's no capability to get information by hovering with
the mouse; the contextual menu item does appear to work to open the
WebKit window, but the window doesn't provide much information and
what there is isn't readable. The little "x" at the upper left also
doesn't work to close the window.
It's very much needed for Safari and I wish it were usable.
I'm running Mac OSX system 10.4.8 with Safari 2.0.4. Software Update doesn't
offer me an update to that version of Safari, though it appears to need quite a
few fixes. I ought also to mention that all my browsers have text display
problems, and those problems persist across reformats/reinstalls. OmniWeb is
the worst, with lines of text piling onto one another, worse than even Safari's
problem, which appears to have gotten somewht better overall. There's also a
problem with text being cut off, so that the upper and lower parts of letters
is cut off.
Best wishes,
Mary Grimsley, <marygrimsley1 at mac.com>
