I can reproduce with both stock 10.4.8 Safari and TOT. Firefox loads all the
images successfully.

This could be a problem in underlying system libraries rather than in WebKit.

for Apple engineers to take a look, giving the URL of this bug, and then post
the Apple bug id here.
