Summary: Calculator Dashboard widget memory usage increases
rapidly
Product: WebKit
Version: 417.x
Platform: Macintosh
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.4
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: JavaScriptCore
AssignedTo: webkit-unassigned at opendarwin.org
ReportedBy: jonathanjohnsson at gmail.com
The calculator dashboard widget included in 10.4 can eat memory (The post at
http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8300945231/m/772005729731 is
the reason I file this bug).
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the calculator widget.
2. Multiply 999 999 999 * 999 999 999, and hit enter until you are well above
something E+125. The widget then freezes. (This may work with other numbers
also, but didn't always for me.)
3. The widget increases its memory usage, and seems never to stop.
As I don't know how to use Dashboard with the latest nightly, I've only tested
this with the latest Safari (2.0.3). The widget won't work when loaded in
Safari, so I couldn't reproduce it there. As widgets can access native
functions, this bug could be invalid, but at a first glance I can't see any
such references in the Javascript.
My guess is that this is a Javascript issue.
