Well, I thought I had an idea about how to reproduce this, but now I can't. 
It's only happened when I clicked the "reply" link to a bugzilla comment, then
split the existing "commented" text into two or more parts, then typing between
them.  Clicking the mouse to change where the insertion pointer is seems to
"disrupt" the effect and stop the multiple-line highlighting.

I'll see if I can't nail down a reproducible test case.  Hopefully this is
enough to start on.
