Summary: REGRESSION: After clicking on the edge of a input ot
textarea field's border, you get a focus ring but no
caret.
Product: WebKit
Version: 420+ (nightly)
Platform: Macintosh
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.4
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P1
Component: Forms
AssignedTo: webkit-unassigned at opendarwin.org
ReportedBy: cpetersen at apple.com
After clicking on the border of a input text or texarea field with the pointer
cursor, a focus ring is displayed around this field but the caret isn't
inserted automatically. This happens with any input field I have tried. Under
10.4.6, clicking the border of the input/textarea field will display the focus
ring and insert the caret automatically for me.
* STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. With TOT webkit , go to any page that uses input text fields such as
http://www.apple.com/macosx/feedback/
2. Move the pointer cursor so that it hovers over the border of the
input/textarea field
3. Click on the edge of the input/textarea's border
4. Verify the focus ring appears around the input/textarea field but the caret
is not inserted.
* RESULTS
Caret should be inserted after clicking on the border edge of the input/texarea
field but only focus ring is displayed.
* REGRESSION
Yes, this is a regression with the new native text fields.
