Reporter, what happens if you:
1) copy/paste the box character to UnicodeChecker
<http://earthlingsoft.net/UnicodeChecker>;
2) iterate through all the fonts in the list at the top of the window (these
are fonts that claim to have the character you have copied)?

One or more of the fonts may have a box glyph instead of the correct one.
