Mark, I think you will find that most of the issues documented by searching for
open bugs with the "NativeTextArea" (as opposed to the "NativeTextField")
keyword:

If there are any specific behaviors that aren't covered there, please file a
new bug with specific instructions on how to reproduce them if you can.  In the
meantime, I'm going to pick one bug that you mentioned in Comment #0 and mark
this bug as a duplicate of that.

Please note that the Apple team (and some open source developers) are working
on these now, so they should be fixed in the next couple of weeks.
