Joost,
I am not sure that you are correct in that the issue is wrongly setting the
display: to block.  It is my understanding that all absolutely positioned
objects must take on the display: block to be position (though admittedly I
can't find it in the spec. at the moment).  If this is the case, I think the
issue is more likely that either ours or Firefox's calculation of the static
vertical position is off for this case.
