Joost just mentioned to me that he couldn't reproduce this.  I tried with
r15229 and couldn't reproduce the problem.  I then tried it again with r15183
as I used in my original report, and the high CPU usage occurred.  Trying it
once more in r15229 had the high CPU usage reoccur. It doesn't appear to be a
cache-related issue as emptying the cache doesn't make the issue go away.
