I would propose that a patch for this also be backported to earlier Safari
versions; 1.3/os10.3, or earlier - a substantial number of users still operate
those versions. Even if the patch simply entails altogether disabling sending
of client certs altogether. This at least allows the users to see a user/pass
login screen, or warning message from the ssl site.
