I've seen this problem when the client and server are the same machine:

CLIENT: Mac OS X 10.4.4 (PPC) with Safari 2.0.3 (417.8)
SERVER: Mac OS X 10.4.4 (PPC) with lighttpd-1.4.8

Let me know if there's any more necessary information...I'm not overly familiar
with how the server-end of things works, so wasn't sure if there was anything
else that's relevant.
