Ok, so does disabling Bookman Old Style (using Font Book, or by manually moving
it from your Fonts directory) resolve the problem?

I have Bookman Old Style version 2.35 installed, and it doesn't have the
problem. What version do you have (it can also be seen in Font Book)?
