As far as I can tell, this hang is due to the image

. Safari and Preview.app hangs when trying to load it, lots of activity in
kernel_task it seems. Firefox opens it happily, telling me it's a gif image of
size 8238x30019 pixels, Photoshop 7 says "Could not open "linefill.gif" because
of a problem with the file-format module interface."
So, it seems like the gif image is corrupt in some way that Safari doesn't
like. After removing the reference to "linefill.gif" in the source, the page
loads immediately, so the CSS scripting is not to blame.
