Here is a patch that makes up for some of the regression, but there is still
about a 40% regression left to fix. This does require updating the results of
one test, but I think the new results are an improvement because they get rid
of most of the console error messages, and the metrics seem more correct. Also,
the pixel test is exactly the same.
