probably a good idea to look at #27437 this likely needs discussion, i'm happy
to submit necessary patches to keep Obj-C happy but don't have the expertise to
say what is what, here - just let me know what needs to be done.  i do know
however that you can't have two versions of the same c function which is why
one of the initKeyboardEvent functions _has_ to be #ifdef'd out.
