Hi all,

My name is Kang-Hao (Kenny) Lu and I've been working on Web technology
for 4 years, previously on CSS standards and now on V8 customization.
Following BABA's IPO, we are looking for more open-minded engineers with
passion to expand the use of Web techonology within our company. The
preferred base is in Hangzhou or Beijing, but this can be discussed.

To say a bit more, our team works on customizing/contributing to Node/V8
to fit and drive the requirement of all Node pioneers within the
company. Details to be discussed offlist. To say this at least,
Hangzhou, where Alibaba is based, is ranked 6th in having the most top
Node module publishers[1] and most of them are in this company. If you
join my team, you are expected to lead me and other folks so you should
be super familar with at least one of the virtual machine/compiler
implementations. By the way, we discuss ideas from time to time our JVM
team (HotSpot) and YunOS virtual machine team.

Our sibling team is working on Web application runtime based on
WebKit/Blink and they are looking for leadership too. Again, if you are
interested, details are to be discussed offlist (just give me a
gTalk/Jabber/Skype accout. Sending mail is fine too).

You should either speak fluent Mandarin or show us how adaptable you are
in a foreign environment. Otherwise, you'll run into a lot of
communication problem given how flat this company is (this should be
pretty evident given that it's me, not our HR or my management, who sent
this mail).

Alibaba is already the mega-company with the most open source projects
in China[2]. Our engineering culture is characterized as open-minded and
flat (see above). We don't have a shared repository which every insider
can access but you don't get much trouble if you want to get someone
else's code with a reason, even if that's in another businuss unit. We
struggle to expand our influence internationally but usually fail
because of English and you would be able to help with it.

You can also send a CV to me directly and I'll turn it in our internal
system but otherwise a talk in advance is preferred.
