POSITION SUMMARY

The work environment within BlackBerry Security is fast paced, highly dynamic and challenging. The BlackBerry Security Team is a center of excellence working to ensure the ongoing security of our products and services for customers and partners worldwide. The security of BlackBerry products have always been among their strongest selling points, and RIM strives to provide the most secure, trusted mobile platform possible. To continue our tradition of excellence, we are looking for individuals in the security space who are knowledgeable, passionate, and experienced to join RIM. This is an opportunity to work for an industry leader in mobile security, one of the most challenging and interesting areas in computer science.

The WebKit Security Specialist will be responsible for the security of the BlackBerry web browser, now based on the WebKit layout engine. The successful candidate will actively track, test and manage vulnerabilities within the WebKit code base by using a variety of automated analysis techniques and by monitoring and reporting on external information sources. They will proactively cultivate strong working relationships and promote collaboration within RIM's software organization and the WebKit development community. The successful candidate will also prioritize and coordinate Open Source Software Security activities and continually improve process for identifying and managing security issues in OSS.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

 *   Analyzing the WebKit code base for security vulnerabilities
 *   Monitoring and reporting on external information sources to uncover newly disclosed or reported security issues
 *   Proactively cultivating strong working relationships and promoting collaboration within RIM's software organization and the WebKit development community
 *   Prioritizing and coordinating Open Source Software security activities, driving timely and effective identification and remediation of complex and customer impacting issues
 *   Continually improving processes for identifying and managing security issues in OSS

 *   Familiarity with the WebKit code base
 *   Understanding of common classes of software security vulnerabilities and how they manifest in source code
 *   Experience with automated analysis techniques such as fuzzing and static code analysis.
 *   Programming experience in C/C++, Java, Python
 *   Technical background and understanding of DOM, CSS, JavaScript, same-origin policy
 *   Strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
 *   Cool under pressure - objective and diplomatic
 *   Able to work collaboratively with minimal supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
ADDITIONAL ASSETS

 *   Knowledge of BlackBerry products and services
 *   Knowledge of the CERT C Secure Coding Standard
