[webkit-dev] Extending WebVTT Implementation

Hi everyone,

This is a heads-up that we are starting to extend WebVTT with features
included in the unofficial draft "WebVTT Extension: Regions for
rendering cue groups" [1]. The master bug is here [2].

The main use cases and necessities that require these features to be
present in WebVTT and WebKit are due to several FCC regulations that
can't be satisfied using the current WebVTT features [3].

For those of you interested, besides the mandatory requirements,
through the addition of the region concept as rendering area for
multiple cues, the extension allows other features highly desired by
the captions community, as described in [4].
