I currently do not build WebKit yet, but plan to do so. So I haven't
looked at any build scripts yet. And as webkit.org explicitly says that
VS2008 is not supported, I didn't try. I hoped VS2008 would be
officially supported when I finally got the time to start my Webkit project.
In the bug tracker, I found to bugs related to Visual Studio 2008, one
resolved for the documentation only (that 2008 is not supported: 18186)
and another one about unresolved issues with friends (22299). So I
assumed it wouldn't work.
