Hi all, I've finally been able to finish up my edits to the Bakefile-based build system that Mike and I have been talking about for some time now. ;-) I don't want to submit it for review yet, as I'd like Mike E. to take a closer look at it first and see how well my changes meet his needs, but I'd of course welcome any comments, suggestions, testing, etc. on the patch. The patch currently does include already generated makefiles based on TOT so you should be able to build without first generating the Makefiles.
