What does Safari do when it gets an RSS feed?

Sorry if this is not the right forum for a question like this. It *could* be a bug in Safari, but our production RSS feed seems fine (see http://keepmedia.com/) We're experiencing a situation where Safari begins to load our RSS feed, and then suddenly redirects to http://rss/. Obviously, this is not correct. I've included a snippet of the feed below, withe bulk of the items removed. Debugging S60 webkit in carbide

I have installed S60 and Build it on my machine.I want to debug it in carbide.If i want to import inf files, which INF file do i need to import? Also i tried to import some of the INF files contained inside S60 folder to carbide,but am getting the following error. 1.WEBCORE.MMP: no such file or directory For the above error, where do I specify the path ? If I try to import some other INF file, I am getting the following errors: 1. MemMan.mmp: Error detected on token CAP_GENERAL_DLL Please help me to resolve the above errors.

SupportImage[Resource]MIMEType

I'm looking into a problem where embedded PDFs don't invoke a WebKit plugin. I found that <object data="url-to-pdf" ... > with a "type" property works fine (invokes the PDF plugin), but <object data="url-to-pdf" type="application/pdf" ... > simply shows the first page of the PDF in the embedding location as an image. I tracked it down to the fact that HTMLObjectEelement::isImageType() is returning 'true' for "application/pdf"; this happens because Image::supportsType() looks at all the types that could be an image. Since it returns TRUE, this becomes a CachedImage and it never goes out to WebKit to check if any plug-ins support this type. Image::supportsType() calls +[WebCoreFrameBridge supportedImageResourceMIMETypes] to get the list. There is also + [WebCoreFrameBridge supportedImageMIMETypes], which is the same list except specifically excluding the hard-coded strings "application/ pdf" and "application/postscript". Does anyone know why are there two different methods for returning the image mime types -- whose only difference are the pdf/postscript types? Neither are called from within WebCore itself. Another tantalizing tidbit is that there is a hidden preference "WebKitOmitPDFSupport", used by WebKit (but not WebCore), that will remove some built-in PDF support from numerous places... but not, unfortunately, from embedded objects as they're being parsed. Does anyone on this list know more about the history or design of all this? Thanks, Rudi

Bugzilla updates

Hi all, we have a few new things on Bugzilla, which I thought would be good to tell all of you about: - Evangelism component Know these sites were it says "Your browser is not supported" ? Hate them too? File a bug on them. These will probably have to go into Radar as well for the time being, so add NeedsRadar to them as well. Mark Malone from Apple and Troy Brandt from OmniWeb will both act on them, as will someone from Nokia I hope. I've been contacting the Opera guys on this as well, since they filed the first evangelism bug in our database, as we probably could do a lot of this work together. We'll have to let the world know that adhering to webstandards != making your site accessible to FireFox too :) . If there's more news i'll let you guys know :) - GoogleBug keyword I have been talking with David Phillip Oster and Bob Austin from Google about the bugs we have in our Bugzilla that are related to Google products. I know there's an official Apple-Google channel, but we thought it would be nice if they knew about the bugs in Bugzilla as well. So from now on, please add the keyword GoogleBug to every bug related to a Google product, so these guys can track them easily. That's all for know, Regards, Joost

10.4.7 WebKit seems more 'flickery'

I don't have any hard evidence, (or a 10.4.6 system to go back to) but I have seen several instances since upgrading to 10.4.7 where web pages in Safari do a lot of unusual flashing/flickering that I have never noticed before. This might be a red-herring, but on <http://www.apple.com/ilife/ quicktour/iphoto/>, if I drag the scroll thumb around the 'Play All' section in the middle flickers with each scroll movement. I have seen similar things when just loading pages as well. Does this ring any bells with some change that went into this version of WebKit? FYI - Dual 867 G4 MDD

Hi, Darin suggested that I repost this message that I originally sent to webkitsdk-dev(a)lists.apple.com: I'm trying to modify the /Developer/Examples/WebKit/MiniBrowser to not use the /System/Library/Frameworks/WebKit.framework but the recently built sources that I pulled in from the webkit.opendarwin.org site. I don't want to use the run-safari / gdb- safari scripts because I'd like to continue to use Safari for gathering information and just have a small, simple app that exercises WebKit, and that I could step through in gdb. So, I replaced the WebKit.framework reference with JavaScriptCore.framework, JavaScriptGlue.framework, WebCore.framework, WebKit.framework, and libWebKitSystemInterface.a and built. It seems to work okay on my PPC system and I can navigate to www.apple.com. However, if I try to load any content that will cause plugins to be loaded (e.g., WebKit/LayoutTests/plugins/resources/orange.mov), I get an exception thrown (WebCore::Widget::addToSuperview() in WidgetMac.mm): 2006-07-10 18:39:11.279 MiniBrowser[16184] *** -[WebHistoryItem page]: selector not recognized [self = 0x149ac6d0] ================= ASSERTION FAILED: Uncaught exception - *** -[WebHistoryItem page]: selector not recognized [self = 0x149ac6d0] 0 (/Users/waylonis/Code/WebKit/WebCore/platform/mac/ BlockExceptions.mm:35 ReportBlockedObjCException) ================= Am I going about this in the wrong way? Programmatically Selecting a DOMRange in a WebView and New WebKit-Related Bug in Apple Mail

All: I've been unable to programmatically select a DOMRange in a WebView (this on Mac OS X 10.4.7). I'm trying to emulate the behavior one can see in an editable WebView such as in Mail.app's compose window where the user can click on an image (to begin a drag for example) and the WebView immediately selects the image prior to the drag action. The simple case fails: DOMRange *range = [myWebView editableDOMRangeForPoint: [[self window] convertScreenToBase:[NSEvent mouseLocation]]]; [range collapse:NO]; [ myWebView setSelectedDOMRange:range affinity:[myWebView selectionAffinity]]; And worse, there appears to be a bug (or an undocumented API change) whereby the WebEditingDelegate method: - (BOOL)webView:(WebView *)webView shouldChangeSelectedDOMRange: (DOMRange *)currentRange toDOMRange:(DOMRange *)proposedRange affinity:(NSSelectionAffinity)selectionAffinity stillSelecting:(BOOL) flag; WebEditingDelegate method is no longer called. Also: The latest changes to WebKit's editing capabilities as Apple now distributes them with 10.4.7 have broken something fundamental in DOMRange selection. Whatever hack Apple used to use to perform the above magic I'm trying to emulate has itself broken now. To see the bug, drag a few small images into Mail.app. Now try to move them around by dragging them to rearrange their order. Note how Mail.app programmatically selects two images instead of just the one you're dragging. Any pointers appreciated. Thanks! Steven

Windows Frame Support.. starting point for dedicated programmers

These are both bad patches, but they at least allow Google Maps to work (with a few hacks here and there in Webkit and Webcore to keep it from crashing.. basically checking for null stuff and returning early if null in a few functions. But, these will allow a dedicated programmer to at least see what needs to be done.. among other things.

Win32: hitting the home stretch

Hello Everyone! The Windows ports of JavaScriptCore and WebCore are hitting the home stretch for anyone who wants to implement: JavaScriptCore: 1. The current Win32 collector implementation is MSVC x86 only (using inline assembly). This should be changed to a C/C++ implementation so that it will compile on x64 (and potentially) MinGW 2. Bindings is currently not implemented. This can be split up into 2 basic components: 1. All uses of CFDictionary need to be changed to HashMap. However, a const char * hashing algorithm that uses the string value instead of the pointer value needs to be implemented first. 2. All uses of CFRuntime need to be ported over to a more cross platform method. CFRuntime is used for 2 different uses: 1. threading 2. callbacks WebCore: 1. Frames support. This will require work in both WebCore and WebKit (WebCore has to callback into WebKit for WebKit to create the native subwindow for WebCore) 2. HTML Canvas support. This will however require porting to the C++ GraphicsContext API and for GraphicsContext to be more complete on Cairo. (this will also help GTK and I believe wX ports) 3. TransferJobWin needs to be rewritten to be more asynchronous and support HTTP and HTTPS. This is all possible via WinInet ( the API currently in use ). 4. I noticed that XMLHttpRequest isn't working on Windows. This might be related to point 3. 5. SVG support. This will probably either require temporarily porting KCanvas to Cairo for the interim. This isn't as important. (this will also help GTK and I believe wX ports) This is just stuff I've noticed over the past year. Finally, a native WebKit implementation! Web Designers and Web Surfers rejoice!
